DFI - Google Certified Educator Level 1 passed - yahoo!

  • What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
  • What did I learn that could be used with my learners?
  • What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?

I have increased my knowledge of devices and the digital area of teaching. I have gained in confidence with the technology available in the classroom and this will help with teaching my young students the advantages of using their devices.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this course and would recommend it to others. I will enjoy using my new found knowledge in the classroom.

Classroom site

I am discovering ways of adding and improving information on a classroom site.  This is our classroom site Te Waipuna o Tamaki:

There were several classroom sites which worked really well that we looked at ... some of which are included below:

Te Ana Ako - Waikowhai school

Panmure bridge school - LS2

Pt England School - Room 18

I had a practice by adding a new hidden page - Leanne's sandpit - with our shared classroom site Te Waipuna o Tamaki

Creating Forms

Enjoyed working with forms ... had fun making a form about holiday destinations.  This will be very handy in the classroom with my students!

Camel animation

Had fun creating a camel animation ... could have spent all day on this and given him more character ... but I think he's cool

My tabs have also had a clean up ... I had too many tabs open so they are now sorted more effectively using Toby Mini

And One Tab

I really enjoyed finding out about hangouts - giving feedback on the below student's blog (Tanner)

Very interesting what students are getting up to on their blogs.

I have also learnt a few short cuts such as screenshot (Shift Command 4) and then pasting from desktop.

First day of DFI was very interesting.  I have now rearranged my google docs with folders, started by professional blog and tried using shortcuts in google docs.

This will be an ongoing learning and unlearning of old habits ... an example being putting underlines under headings (apparently that should only be used for hyperlinks).
